“Talking to Charlie Crippen about a new deck was refreshing. Not your typical salesman. You don't get a low base price, then have to add on all the pieces you want. Charlie tells you what the total price will be and what it includes so there are no surprises at the end. We were comfortable doing business with him. The crew came out every day ready to work and, except for a lunch break, worked steadily until quitting time (or, for us, until the rain came almost every afternoon!). The whole process was pretty painless and the results are solid and beautiful.”

“The work they did was extremely professional. I'm in the trades my self, so I know the worth of a job done well. They took the time to make sure it was done right. A lot out of people are out there to take your money and run, but they did the job I wanted and made sure it was done right. I am very satisfied. I have a high standard, and they met it without a doubt.”

“Absolutely! We were looking for a top quality company that does things right, which means having all needed licenses, insurance, and worker's comp as well getting all permits and inspections required by our county.”
“My wife and I interviewed several highly-qualified deck contractors – and unquestionably chose the best in Charlie and Crippen Woodworks. Our reasons were as follows: 1. Background in fine interior carpentry. We knew we were getting a skilled contractor. 2. Large enough to have a sophisticated operation / multiple crews, but small enough to ensure the attention of the owner 3. During the initial interview, Charlie highlighted a water/soil-grading issue that every other contractor missed. Small details matter! 4. Entire staff were employees, not independent subs – and all were long-time employees. Strong internal culture of quality. Again, small details matter. 5. Crew were professional, polite, and extremely hard-working. Staff cleaned up work area at the close of every day. Everybody was accountable. 6. Competitive and fair pricing. 7. Charlie was always accessible and on job site frequently. Charlie is also well connected – we had to replace a retaining wall that was failing – Charlie pulled strings to have this fixed quickly and kept project on track. 8. Everyone, from Charlie on down, were good people…in a way, family oriented & super friendly. 9. Finished product is A++ (see pictures – we couldn’t be more thrilled) and we have full confidence he will always be around if we ever have any minor service issues. We recommend Charlie and Crippen Woodworks without reservation.”

Perfect blend of experience/knowledge (only company we interviewed to advise on re-grading soil to eliminate water seepage into foundation) + 20 years of deck building experience (got his start as interior finishing carpenter, skill (work was exquisite with fine detail), to explaining differences / advice with decking options, plus long-tenured staff (you rarely see this anymore), plus top-notch customer service, plus everyone were just good people. “Charlie and his crew were absolutely amazing. The quote for the work was reasonable, and Charlie worked with me on minor design changes for the existing deck layout. They hadn’t often worked with the decking I chose, but did a bang-up job of installation, including putting a water barrier on top of the existing joists so they will last longer. I would absolutely use them again!”
