“Not looking out for the customer. I had an outdoor faucet that had a slow drip and just needed a new washer, but the plumber said that the only way he was allowed to fix it was to replace the entire faucet. I ended up fixing it myself for under $2.00.”

“My only experience with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was with an inspection of the plumbing my new house prior to purchasing. My plumber was punctual and friendly enough, however, my purpose for employing BFP was to find out what kind of pipes the house had since it is an older house. After what I recall was a good amount of time, checking what was assumed to be the cleanout, nothing was determined with the camera sent down that line. I later found what was the actual cleanout, and the plumber checked that and said that he was unable to check the pipes back towards the house, and could only access part way across the yard towards the city lines. He said that for an additional fee, he could check the plumbing from the rooftop to check for whether or not this house had previously replaced the plumbing. I did not follow him up onto the rooftop, but after a short while, he said that he was unable to determine if the house still had cast iron or PVC pipes. Considering this was an inspection prior to purchasing the house for home purchase purposes and home insurance purposes, a nearly $400 bill and no information on what kind of plumbing the house had was not helpful at all. The service left me with little to no information I did not already know.”

“We thought for a long time we had a mold issue because of the smell on the second floor around the bathrooms and bedrooms. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing (BFP) promptly told us that it was probably because the plumbing fixtures had not been run or used all summer. Our plumber explained how we should run the water for a length of time every week to make sure there was enough water in the U-shaped pipe to keep the sewage smell from coming into our house. Our plumber also helped us by showing us how to unplug a drain with a reshaped clothes hanger. I'm very satisfied and we were greatly helped because Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was knowledgeable enough to know that it was not mold and knowledgeable enough to know where the smell was coming from and why. On top of that, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing gave us a how-to about eliminating the smell by running the fixtures every week if not being used regularly. I was very pleased with the amount of knowledge that Benjamin Franklin Plumbing had, which he shared with us. And so far, all this was free. We also bought two bottles of BioBen or Biological Drain and Septic System Treatment which should help the drains.”

“Stop grossly price gouging customers. I was quoted a bill of approximately $4,000 for digging a trench from my house water valve to the street water box, which is only about 12 -14 feet, and replace the line which was leaking. You also required a deposit for the work. Luckily, I got a second quote of $1,400 for the exact same work and materials that Ben Franklin Plumbing quoted, but with no deposit required. The job was done professionally by the other company for $1,400 and they invoiced me for payment. Their work and materials had the same warranty as Ben Franklin, and were also bonded and insured. They also showed exactly at my appointment time. I will never recommend Ben Franklin Plumbing.”
