“When the concrete was being poured only the 'guys' pouring the concrete were present - No PMs. They poured the concrete in night time with very limited lights (one flood light). All of the equipment, shoes, gloves with concrete were cleaned in my backyard on the grass that killed the grass and there is a bare spot now. There are two cracks around the deck columns and few visible issues. When PMs were present they did a fantastic job. But when the need was critical ie during the pouring of concrete they were not present which resulted in a poor job towards the end. Concrete quality is good but my backyard is a mess right now :( All that was needed was the presence of the key PM and me (customer) not having to deal with a contractor who hired another contractor to get the work done.”

“Allied never fulfilled their contract. After numerous delays and excuses they completed about 25% of the project. Terrible communication, planning, timeliness or follow through. We eventually had to cancel the rest of the contract. Would never recommend this company and I feel like we were very patient and forgiving, hopeful to have them complete it. But they seemed completely in interested in doing so.”

“We had a good experience with Carvestone. Recently, we have seen some “blemishes” on the deck that rep (Don Wade) is hopefully in process of fixing. We will be very happy with its look once that gets fixed. The fountain, on the other hand, was a huge problem. It had to be re-done 3 times, and it still was not completed to our satisfaction. We initially showed AOS a picture of a fountain that we wanted from one of their ads (so they should be able to do right?) and it still did not look right in the end. They used a landscaper to do the work, and it leaked the first time; used same landscaper second time and it leaked again. We escalated it because we wanted a mason to do the work and we were told to “take a breath”. After several escalations, we ended up unknowingly reaching the President. It was difficult to get anyone’s attention or sense of urgency. The crew would show up at different times and different days with no communication. We suggested staff/mgmt learn from Don Wade who has excellent communication skills and follow through. It never felt like anyone cared about the quality of the work even when their payment was put on hold. The focus was getting paid, not pleasing the customer. Project took 5 months. Incredibly poor job. We were all glad to reach somewhat of a financial resolution to put it to an end. Really recommend time management, communication & customer service skills training. Communicating at beginning and end of each day as to progress should be standard practice. The person in charge should communicate regularly as agreed upon with the customer at beginning of project. Don is an excellent example of how it should be done. Jack gave us a good first impression of the company; unfortunately, lots of the other players didn’t follow through with his values. And when someone in a leadership role at their corporate office tells you to take a breath, it shows that the entire organization needs this training. It could really be a differentiator for them. Otherwise, in a world where referrals are paramount, I don’t know how they will survive.”

“They did the work in a timely manner and the result looks nice. However, I wish they had cleaned the site a little better and that the sealant had been applied more consistently (it ended up creating pools of sealant in certain areas of the patio).”

“Took forever, did terrible work and had to come back and fix over and over, PM's were either over assigned projects or inexperienced or both, sub-contractors had no respect for their work and did lazy job on quality. Then they tried to convince me it was good. I believe at one time this company probably did good work but are trying to do too much and demanding too much from their PM's.”

“Project ended well, but when it takes over one year to complete with the major problems we had the project ended with a nice new patio. Although the project was during The pandemic it has no relevance to my comments or ratings as it had zero impact to the project.”

“Courteous, knowledgeable, no pressure. Completely explained options, process, and asked for input each step of the wat. They even made a “sample board” so we could fine tune the pattern and color shades before applying to our walk and covered porch. Cleaned up after themselves. Product looks like real stone and is beautiful! We have gotten lots of compliments on our walk way and porch. We got bids from three other companies. These were the most professional, had the best product even though a bit more expensive than the other three. We couldn’t be happier with our choice!”

I would definitely caution anyone that there could be significant differences in the timeline for completion you are initially given with when your project actually gets done as well as lapses in communication if they happened to end up with one of the same project managers I had, but that the overall quality is top notch.”

“We were fortunate that I was home to oversee the project due to covid. Every step of the build was wrong in some way but luckily I was here to see the mistake and correct it. Now, the finished product turned out great...but the process was not good so that is the reason for the rating.”

The day they were ready to pour concrete I questioned as to the drain pipe installation. The crew said there was no drain and had to call the foreman to clarify. The resulting install was rushed and the outcome is an eyesore.”

“It felt like every single aspect of the install had to be micromanaged. There wasn't a single thing that the job manager didn't have to come out to see. There were miscommunications about work, including simply using the wrong word (from not understanding how the job was to be done) such as "paint" rather than "cement", and even now our patio is cracked, the wood on our pergola is splitting, the roof is leaking from holes that were drilled (into Home Depot clear plastic roofing), there are spots that were completely missed when painted, and we had to have gutters installed because the slope wasn't great enough for water to run off properly. It was insanely expensive, and while the men who sold us on the contract and who we spoke to on the phone were great, it felt like there was a huge disconnect between them and their workers. We're happy to have the space, but it was a headache.”
